Hodgson Trio

Azil Trio was formed in 2021 from the Chamber Music Society at the University of Georgia. The trio has received coaching from Liza Stepanova and Itamar Zorman, members of the acclaimed Lysander Trio, and has participated in masterclasses with distinguished ensembles such as the Wu Han, Parker Quartet, and Borromeo Quartet. They are active members of Chamber Music Athens.

Alexis Boylan is pursuing a Master of Music degree in violin performance under Michael Heald, following the completion of her bachelor’s degrees in biology and violin performance at the University of Georgia.

Thomas was a finalist in the 2019 Coltman Chamber Music Competition and received the prestigious Brahms Award for chamber music excellence during his studies at Ohio State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree. Both Alexis and Thomas hold assistantships as the graduate string quartet at UGA and are members of the ARCO Symphony Orchestra.

Jesse Hu, a prize winner in the Lamont Concerto Competition and the UGA Concerto Competition, made his solo debut at the National Concert Hall in Taiwan after winning the Young Artist Competition hosted by the Peabody Alumni Society in 2019. He debuted as a concerto soloist with the UGA University Symphony Orchestra, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in 2022. Jesse completed his Master of Music in piano performance at the Peabody Institute, studying under Benjamin Pasternack and participating in chamber music with Maria Hahn, Judith Ingolfsson, and Ellen Mack. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance under Liza Stepanova at the University of Georgia.
